The only thing I love more than a delicious fruit is a nutritious AND delicious fruit! Lucky for us almost all fruits have some sort of naturally built in health boost. Sweet tart citrus with its vitamin C, berry sweet blueberries and their antioxidants, and bananas with their leg cramp fighting potassium (which I sooo need help with sometimes!). So much helpful healthy goodness in such a sweet package, nature really is the best!! Some fabulous fruits are even good for your outsides too and by that I mean face masks, as in fruit for your face! One of the best things about making a face mask out of fruit is that if you happen to have any leftovers most of the time you can just eat them! A little for me, a little for the face, a little for me…. so fun! There are all sorts of masks you can make but my personal favorite is crafted using one of my favorite tropical fruits, the Hawaiian papaya.
Papaya is packed full of natural enzymes that are not only good for digestion (perfect for a post meal sweet treat!) but also work to brighten your skin and help fade those pesky sun spots that are so hard to avoid getting in the southern California sunshine. To prepare simply halve, remove seeds, and mash up half a papaya. Mashed papaya can be used as is or try adding a teaspoon of honey to the mix for some natural antibacterial action. Mix the honey and papaya till smooth then brush onto a cleansed face. Relax and let the fruity goodness work its magic for 10 minutes then rinse away with warm water. Any leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to two days of more face mask fun, that is if you can resist eating the leftovers straight away!
